| Dendrobium leonis is an interesting epiphyte, often grown more for
its plant form than for its flowers. The plants have a strong resemblance
to some form of Christmas cactus, hanging down in a mass of pendant, succulent
growth. Flowers are produced usually singly at the tips of mature
canes. Each flower is about a half inch from top to bottom
and is rather intensely fragrant with a scent of vanilla extract.
They are not terribly long-lasting (about a week or so).
Best grown mounted, it is a pretty easy growing orchid. |
